At the Heart of the Day
The Stag National is a community fundraising event run in support of Oak Tree Animals’ Charity and Eden Valley Hospice.
From registrations and sponsorship to donations and activities on the day, this event is designed to raise both funds and awareness for two causes that mean a great deal to our local area.
We’d love you to get involved — whether by entering, sponsoring, volunteering or simply coming along.
What to expect
• Hobby horse race course with themed jumps
• Parade ring and pre-race showcase
• Sponsored races and named trainers
• Family-friendly fun races
• Prizes for winners and best dressed
• Food, drinks and fundraising activities
Timetable (approx. timings of the day)
All Jockeys and horses will need to gather at the commentator’s tent 10 mins before their race start for safety briefing/checks and to go into the parade ring (commentary and showcase) and be introduced.
11am – Race Registration (and throughout the day ends 15mins before the race starts
12pm – Castle Chocolates Chase (sponsored by Castle Chocolates) under 12 year olds
12.30pm – Hodgesons Hurdles (Sponsored by Hodgesons LTD) 12 – 16 year olds
1pm – Dog Show – organised by Oak Tree Animal Charity
2pm – Cubby’s Gold Cup (sponsored by Cubby Signs) – Adults (17yrs old and up)
2.30pm – Team Relay Dash (sponsored by Stephex Trucks LTD (teams of 5)
3.00 pm – Mascot Mayhem (Sponsored by Darah Bourke Racing) (2 charity mascots race against each other)
3.30pm – awards for ‘Funniest Fall’, ‘Best dressed rider and horse’, ‘Most creative Hobby Horse name’. – Thank you’s and approximate total of monies raised so far.
Continue from 4pm at The Stag Inn pre booked food available at 6pm till 7pm, live music from 7pm
